Cabrillo National Monument, CA

Yesterday we visited Cabrillo National Monument at Point Loma in San Diego. Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo was the first European to set foot on the west coast of the United States. What a beautiful place! The park is composed of a visitor's center, monument of Cabrillo, lighthouse, and hiking trails to the tide pools and through the sage scrub. We went in hopes of seeing the tide pools as we have heard great things about them. (Unfortunately, we went with our playgroup that always meets at 10am on Wednesdays and it wasn't low tide!) This is probably one of the most beautiful places we have seen yet. On the western side of the point is the Pacific Ocean and on the eastern side, the bay and the city of San Diego. The weather was perfect...low 70's, sunny. There was a little bit of haze so the city wasn't as clear as it could have been...still, we had pretty much a perfect day.
