The day her life changed forever...

That might be a bit dramatic, but yesterday Tinna embarked on a new stage in her life. She got her ears pierced. I didn't want it done yet but Steven was all for it. Tinna was all for it. Delaney has been back and forth about wanting hers done...a few of the girls in her Brownie troop have had their ears pierced within the last 2 weeks, so she said she wanted it done "to fit in". Never a reason, I tried to explain to her. I really want my children to think for themselves, even if it means being different from their friends. Since it was a rainy day, nothing more to do but go be Mall Rats and get Tinna's ears pierced.

Can you guess who else was at the mall on Saturday, November 8? SANTA. That's right. It's not even Thanksgiving and Santa and full-blown Christmas decorations are already out. So is the Salvation Army ringing their bells for charity donations. Santa. Give me a break. On November 8. Talk about the retailers wanting to make up for a poor economy. They know there isn't much hope for good sales this year. I understand that, but still. I was disgusted to see it this early in the season. Here are photos of the kids, not standing in line, but just looking at Santa.

After the mall we hit Sam's Club for some apples, bananas, gas, etc. Back home to watch the Penn State - Iowa game. What a huge disappointment to lose the game in the last minute. I was so hoping for a perfect season, if only for JoePa's sake. Maybe we'll still be able to will the last two games of the year. Time will tell.

And that's the update from here.

Congrats to Tinna, I remember being very proud when I got my ears pierced...I was 4 years old...hope your week will be good =) we´ve been at Mom´s, celebrating grandma´s 90th birthday, so we´re tired and ready for a calm and quite week.

Hi Pia! Congratulations to your grandmother. 90 is a very special birthday! Tinna IS very proud to be a big girl now. She is 4 years old also...so maybe this is a good time to have it done? I was 14 or 15 when I had my first holes pierced...my second set was not far behind as I clearly remember that being done at age 16. I hope you do have a quiet and peaceful week. Any snow for you yet? We are supposed to get more rain which will be good for me doing my "secret" christmas knitting!!!

Wow, I couldn't get my ears pierced until I got straight A's in 4th grade! You're a cool mom. I can't believe Santa was already at the mall. The commercials on TV are getting more and more Christmasy. It's getting more ridiculous every year!
