Ripit, ripit!

No, *I'm* not a frog...but the socks I started yesterday have now been frogged!

That's what I get for not doing a gauge swatch! I was using a 2.75mm circular needle and the top of the sock was waaaay too big for my foot...and I was only half-way through the increases! So, I'm going to decrease to a 2.25mm (US 1 and the smallest size I have in circular) and see what happens. More later.

Not much new here. Spent the morning hanging out with my friend Chandra. Her daughter goes to school with the twinkies and from the day we saw each other, we knew we'd hit it off. So, she came over, we had coffee and chatted. I'm feeling like quite the social butterfly this week! Two days have been spent in the company of nice friends. It sure beats being all alone.

Tomorrow is IndiaFest at ODU. Fun, fun! Can't wait for the great food and to see the dancers. Sunday...not sure what's on...maybe Letterboxing? Depends on the weather.

I see that my book "Days in Midgard" has been on your nightstand for a while now. I'm curious how you learned about it and how you're getting along with it.

Wow! What a surprise to see your comment on my blog! I heard you interviewed on Ravencast and bought your book immediately as I was intrigued by what I heard. I am enjoying Days in Midgard but haven't finished it just yet. I'd say I'm about half-way through the book and my favourite story is Solstice Guests. I have three small children so I enjoy the fact that I can read a story here and there in the morning before they wake up. Perhaps I should pop over to your site and join the discussion boards there, eh?! Thanks for putting your stories into writing!

Hi Shannon! About Kool-Aid, I don´t set the dye with anything, I use hot water for the dye and then let the yarn simmer in it until all dye is consumed, and then I rinse with cold water. I like to dye with Kool-Aid because it´s easy and fun, but I can see the other lady´s point. I have tried with aciddye, and the colours were brighter and held up longer. I´m not sure about how long Kool-Aid dye holds, I haven´t yet washed anything I´ve knit with it.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the read. Thus far, people haven't been terribly discussive. I hope that's a good thing. Everybody seems to like Solstice Guests. Beyond that, I never know which other stories a particular person will especially like. There have been some real surprises on that front.

Love your blogroll: a view into some different worlds I would otherwise know nothing about.
