Young Writers...

On Friday when I opened Delaney's backpack, I noticed an invitation to a "Young Writers' Reception" for our school district. I briefly looked at it and thought "Ugh. I'm not driving all the way there for that" (our district is BIG and it can be quite far to drive in rush hour) and pushed it aside. This morning, before Delaney got on the bus, I had to read the weekly school newsletter, sign her folder and put it in her backpack so she could return it to her teacher. That's when I realized my child had possibly been selected as one of our school district's "young writers". I emailed her teacher to be sure (because I seriously am NOT going to drag all three of these children to some reception if my child is not being honoured!!!)...I just received the response below...

Delaney was chosen to represent our class at the reception. She was the only one that was invited to attend from our class. I am not sure how she will be recognized. I have not been to the reception before. I believe that her story will be on display at the reception.

I guess all of those hours we have spent reading together are paying off!

YOU GO DELANEY! That's a good start to an impressive resume. Congratulations! Tell your Mom you deserve a big bowl of candy every day for two weeks. ;-)
