When did my blood get so thin?

From what I can remember, I was never a girl to complain too much about the cold. I've always liked winter better than summer, but man, is it ever bugging me this year! Am I old or is it just that I've been away from the north for too long? Yesterday found us around 34F, just above freezing. Our ground is finally hard and there are a TON of birds at the feeders this week. I was seriously cold all day and I had to dig out my down coat before the afternoon dog walk. Yep, my old blue down coat that I got in college at the Woolrich outlet in Central PA and haven't really worn since 1996. I just couldn't take the cold any longer and thank god I never got rid of that old coat. When I got up this morning it was 20F. Today there are promises of temperatures hitting mid-40's...good thing because I'm afraid to see how high our energy bill will be with the furnace constantly running as it has been the past few days. Brrrr!

I won't have photos for you for a few days. The newer versions of Macromedia Flash are not compatible with Sony's Picture Package and that's what I use to download my photos. I won't even begin to go into the entire story of uninstalls/reinstalls, etc. I will just say my laptop is now COMPLETELY and UTTERLY f'd up. Thank you Adobe.

There's not much going on here today. I'm doing laundry, we're all listening to the "Hairspray" soundtrack, and the kids are playing doggie/Barbie on the kitchen floor (with all of the Barbie dolls and clothes spread out in the living room). Doggie/Barbie is some sort of pretend fantasy game where Tinna pushes around a doggie in a rolling basket while Delaney lays on the floor with blankets and Barbies and yells "Dawwwwgie!" in a baby voice that annoys the crap out of me so bad I want to strangle her. I can make absolutely NO SENSE out of this game but they all seem to understand it and as long as there's not too much fighting involved, I allow it to procced.

Knitting news: I finished Tinna's scarf last night! Now William wants one. Ugh. Just when I thought I was done with the round looms for awhile. Well, on second thought, I think I'll look for a cabled-scarf pattern on Ravelry and just use my good ole circular needles to make it instead of the loom. I've gone off looms for now. No work has been done on the Pel in weeks. I'm rather glad the TV writers are on strike because my nights are mostly spent reading. Right now it's "The Far Traveler" by Nancy Marie Brown. GREAT book. If you are interested in sagas or Viking women, this is the book for you!

Oh, last night I did watch "Georgia Rule" with Jane Fonda and Lindsay Lohan. I can't say I was disappointed even though I went into it with the expectation that I would be. Definitely a chick-flick but it kept my attention and I had tears in my eyes at the end. (sniff, sniff) Awwww.

I have the Nourishing Traditions book and it's awesome. Great recipes. Let me know if you want to borrow it.
