May 30 / May 31 - Memphis, TN / Bristol, VA

Skies leaving Arlington, TX

Rain started as we were driving away from the gas station near G'ma's house!

Texarkana was really STINKY but a nice lady took this photo for us.

Is Arkansas stinky because it's a "natural" state?

Well, we've finally made VA! After a harrowing start yesterday in Arlington, TX during a horrendous rain storm (probably the worst we've ever driven in) that flooded roads within 30 minutes, we drove all day through Arkansas and Tennessee, stopping only for food, gas, and potty breaks - oh and one touristy stop in "Texarkana" where you can stand with one foot in Texas and one foot in Arkansas. Texarkana is where the rain storms finally broke and we started to see clearer skies. Other than that, the drive was much prettier and interesting after we got out of TX. It was nice to be in some hills and mountains again and seeing lots and lots of trees.

This won't be a long entry tonight...it's 9 pm now, we just finished eating pizza here in the hotel and Steve is giving the kids a bath. Then it's time for bed and hopefully early on the road in the morning. We are consistently late getting out of the hotel and it's quite annoying. I can't say how excited I am to think we will most likely be in our house tomorrow night. We are sick to death of road food and motels!!! (I'm standing here typing and trying to eat a "salad" composed of shredded lettuce, shredded carrots, and a few other veggies)

Oh, I forgot to say I couldn't update the blog yesterday because our hotel in Memphis didn't have internet access! Memphis was a scary place for more reasons than that one. Don't think I'll be rushing to go back there.
