3 days until Christmas...

I can't begin to tell you how tired I am today. Steve and I both think we are "getting something". Yay. Just in time for Christmas and all of the work we will need to do on Monday! Oh well...what's a holiday without illness.

We ended up making it to the puppet show in Balboa Park today. I called for Tinna's dr appointment at 9:15 and they couldn't see her until 2...so we left the house at 9:30 and made the 10:00 show. The kids had a blast. They were singing and dancing during the show. What a great time!

After the show, we walked around Balboa Park for at least an hour or more. It is beautiful there. All of the buildings are unique. I think many of them were built around 1918 or so...it sticks in my mind they were built for a World's Fair or some sort of exposition but I'd have to look it up so don't quote me on it. Today we walked over to the Old Globe Theatre as it is dressed up for the live performance of Dr. Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". This has to be Delaney's absolute FAVOURITE Christmas story and movie of all time. Plus, I wanted to see the theatre just because I love Shakespeare and England and all that goes with it. I wasn't disappointed.

SO, then around 2, I took Tinna to the doctor. No worries, her lungs are clear, she just has a little virus that the kiddies are passing around these days. The dr gave her some "magic medicine" (Dimetapp DM) to make her better...oh and a sticker...so life was good. She came home and fell asleep on the couch.

I made dinner, we went to pajama storytime, back home, kids in bed...and now I'm finally sitting down wondering if I will get this blog done tonight so I can go crash! I started to dig out my baking supplies earlier today and realized I needed solid Crisco and a lemon and didn't have either...so...all of Friday will be spent baking cookies!!! I swear, on December 26th, I WILL SIT DOWN FOR AN ENTIRE DAY! Well...maybe not because we'll have to take Alice back to the airport that day...so who knows. But soon. I swear. Soon, I will rest!!!

At the theatre waiting for the doors to open.

The playbill.

A blurry scene from the show.

Meeting the puppet and puppeteer (is that what she is called???) after the show. This was the highlight for Tinna!

A fountain near the Prado restaurant. We stopped at the coffee stand for some scones and coffee.

Can't remember what this building is called but it was closed today. Interesting construction.

The Old Globe Theatre sign!

The Old Globe Theatre!

Decked out for the "Grinch"...tickets for children start at $25 each, no children under 3 admitted. Adult tickets start at $50 a piece. Alas, a little too dear for our pockets this year, although Delaney begged us over and over to take her.

The tree from "Whoville" in the Grinch story.

Walking across this bridge made me very nervous...

because this is the view as you look down and out...

The massive root system on this old tree amazed me.

Kids playing on a concrete dragon. Beautifully decorated with stones, mirrors, and marbles.

More dragon...

Every now and then we capture this innocence and beauty in Delaney that I cannot put into words. It always surprises me and takes my breath away. The original photo is gorgeous but this reduced size digital messes it up a bit. Trust me, though, the kid is beautiful.
