G-d Bless Texas!

I started checking into "pet friendly" hotels this morning around 7am...trying to get phone numbers, reading reviews, etc, in preparation for a day of making calls in the car to find a hotel in Shreveport, LA for tonight. By 7:15, give or take a few minutes, I was sick of what I was reading and asked Steven "Why can't we just drive straight through to Dallas instead of stopping in LA for the night?" So, that is what we did. We arrived here in Arlington around 9:20pm. The kids were excited to see Grandma & Grandpa Texas, Aunt Debbie, and Cousin Katie. We were excited that we didn't have to spend the extra money on a sucky hotel room and for the fact that now we can rest and be settled for a few days before we have to drive again. We definitely made the right decision. The kids have been great in the car...no meltdowns yet! It's almost as if they know they are trapped and there isn't much they can do about it anyway.

For those of you who have never been in the deep south...Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana all look the same down near the gulf. Flat and lots of water around everywhere...mosquitoes the size of birds. Man, were we happy to hit eastern Texas today and see HILLS! Delaney was surprised tonight when we were coming into Grand Prairie/Dallas and she was high enough to see lights of the suburbs in the distance. That has never happened in her life that she can remember and she was screaming "Mommy, look at all of those lights!!!" It was very beautiful after all of the flatness we've experienced in the past few years!
