May 12

I'm running out of creative titles from my blog posts so I guess I'll just stick to dates for awhile.

Here's what I did today:

Up at 7:15 or so to walk the dog and get ready for the estate sale that my husband told me about yesterday. As I walked the dog on the lower block (we live on the middle street of a hill that is comprised of 3 streets), I saw some of our friends having a yard sale. I stopped by and picked out a few little things for the kids but mainly they had stuff we didn't need (yay!). I got a small box of Polly Pocket clothes for Delaney's Pollys, a Dora magnetic doll/clothes set for Tinna to play with in the car, and a street rug from IKEA that Will can play cars on and will look cute in his new room. Total spent: $6.

As I got up to our house, I realized the "estate sale" was not at the corner house as Steven had told me. He misunderstood the information. It turns out that the sale was at our next door neighbor's house. These particular neighbors are moving away from San Diego and need to be rid of most of their belongings...hence "estate" meant that people could walk through the house and buy what they wanted. I walked through but a lot of it was furniture that we just do not need. I did see a nice tall Tiffany-style lamp and asked how much for it. I was told it had just been reduced from $10 to $7. As I was reaching for my money, a Mexican man jumped in to say he had already purchased it. Bah, not fair!!! I ended up with a little box for my incense (the long wooden boxes that will hold the incense inside) and two wooden spoons. Total spent $1. I was quite tickled about the incense box. I burn a lot of Nag Champa and have wanted one of these for some time now but I never wanted to fork out the $10 or whatever they cost in the head shops. .50 is more my speed.

The kids played in the pool for awhile early in the morning, I called my dad to tell him Honda had refunded our money for the car repairs, and then read for awhile. Steve started to gather up the kids to take them to the park. I went along, we even took Henry because it was so nice outside...cool, around 60-65F, breezy. We took the kite bag along and below are some photos from that.

After the park, Delaney wanted a funny face pancake from IHOP so we went there for an early Mother's Day lunch. As if the day couldn't get any better, my darling husband brought me home, dropped me off and took the kids to Wal-Mart to get me a Mother's Day surprise (Gilmore Girls DVDs, I think!). Wow. I read for a little while AND had a short nap while they were gone. What a great day.
