Week-end wrap-up

It's strawberry pickin' time! Yesterday was super busy. We got up, ran some errands, picked strawberries, had lunch at the Jumbo (Chinese buffet), went to Payless AND the Dollar Tree!!! Got home, kids had a water fight in the yard with Katie and Debbie and then Debbie and I cooked dinner ("Eggplant Timbale" another Giada recipe - quite good but unfortunately, not as ass smacking good as previous recipes. Oh, and I just discovered this website that pays homage to Giada. It is definitely adult oriented, so be prepared if you click on the link.) Anyway...dinner was nice and tasty, Debbie and Katie said they loved it.

Today, I have a TON of work to do here at the house. Pick up kid stuff, put away laundry, clean turt tank, pay bills. Wheee!

I had a quick peek at the garden this morning and must say things are coming along quite well. My seed mats are sprouting! The kids' tomato seeds survived the deluge. Delaney's herb garden is taking off and so is the hanging butterfly garden. I'm impressed! On the sad side, the rose "John F. Kennedy" has lost almost all of it's leaves and the dicentra (bleeding heart) is turning yellow! Ack! Rain is predicted for today so there's not much to be done at the moment. If I get a chance, I'll be relocating a few hostas this week and probably the dicentra (into more sun, perhaps).

It's almost lunchtime here so I'm going to end this post for now. I'll leave you with a few photos from our week-end...strawberry picking, water gun fighting, eggplant timbale, garden shots (the rose is "Heirloom" and is obviously very happy), rhododendron beginning to bloom, my new haircut - not "done" as it would be if I were going out for dinner or something but you can see the length and layers...

Love the haircut.
I see you were also talked into the swimming baby doll.

Thanks. Actually, that baby doesn't swim on it's own, it just goes along in the water. I couldn't find the swimming one when it was birthday time...but don't worry...Tinna still wants one!!!

Wow, those roses are amazing! Something I never could keep alive longer than a couple of weeks...
About the oreo cake. The recipe is in Norwegian, and I don't trust my English enough to translate it ;)
The bottom of the cake is eggwhites whipped until they're stiff, and then sugar is added.. then some crushed oreos and pecan nuts are mixed in.. After that it's just whipped cream and more crushed oreos. Maybe you'll find something similar in English?

I love the hair cut! I think I am going to get mine cut tomorrow, if I feel better. I got some stomach thing over the weekend - horrible. So, we won't be making it over on Wed.
